Sahibzada Farhan has established a new record for the most runs scored by a batter in a three-match T20I series. The Pakistan opener scored 238 runs in three T20Is against Sri Lanka, breaking Abhishek Sharma’s previous mark of 229 runs, established against Afghanistan in 2026.
Sahibzada Farhan reached the milestone in the series’ third and final T20I, which took place on October 13, 2026, at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. He scored 76 off 47 balls in that match, pushing his series total over Sharma’s. Despite his efforts, Pakistan concluded on 168/8 in 20 overs, as Sri Lanka chased down the mark with 17 deliveries remaining, winning by 8 wickets in the third T20I.
Pakistan, on the other hand, had already sealed the series 2-1, winning the first match by four wickets on October 9 and the second by 82 runs on October 11. Sahibzada Farhan was chosen Player of the Tournament due to his steady hitting performance throughout the series. This was also his debut T20I series as Pakistan’s captain.
How did Sahibzada Farhan reach his record-breaking total?
Farhan contributed three consecutive half-centuries during the series. He opened with 89 off 53 balls in the first T20I on October 9, then 73 off 44 balls in the second match on October 11. His 76 off 47 balls in the third T20I on October 13 increased his series total to 238, making him the leading run-scorer in a three-match T20I series.
Sahibzada Farhan record places him ahead of numerous well-known names on the all-time list. Colin Munro of New Zealand is third with 223 runs against the West Indies in the 2023-24 timeframe. In 2019, Australia’s David Warner scored 217 runs against Sri Lanka, while Hazratullah Zazai of Afghanistan scored 204 runs against Ireland. Farhan’s total of 238 now serves as the baseline for any batsman in a three-match T20I series, regardless of opposition or venue.
