Megan Schutt, an Australian fast bowler, has been punished for two games after violating Cricket Australia’s Sports Science and Sports Medicine laws on the use of prescription drugs.
Megan Schutt will sit out Australia’s third and final Twenty20 International against New Zealand on Thursday, October 22, at North Sydney Oval. Furthermore, she will be unable to play in the Adelaide Strikers’ first Weber WBBL 12 match against the Melbourne Stars on October 31.
Cricket Australia accepted the suspension in an official statement, clarifying that it had nothing to do with performance enhancement and was limited to one incident that occurred outside of the competition period.
Megan Schutt apologized for failing to meet the expectations imposed on Australian cricket players and accepted the penalty.
The seasoned pacer also confessed that it is her responsibility to follow the regulations, which players are constantly educated on.
Australia is aiming to sweep the T20I series against New Zealand.
Australia has already clinched the series, having won the first two games, and Megan Schutt’s suspension comes ahead of the final Twenty20 International against New Zealand.
