Gautam Gambhir underlined the challenging bowling conditions India faced throughout the West Indies innings. The dew-covered, level ground at the JSCA International Stadium Complex made it difficult for the bowlers to maintain control. India reduced the West Indies to 5 for 2 in the first over and 58 for 3 in the sixth over, but they recovered in the middle overs.
Although Roston Chase dismissed Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Shivam Dube for three wickets and 24 runs in four overs, India’s batting effort was built on a good total. Sherfane Rutherford’s 84 off 37 deliveries and Shai Hope’s unbeaten 102 off 45 balls fuelled the West Indies’ quest. The West Indies scored 501 runs and 33 sixes in 38.3 overs, making it their most successful T20I chase.
